This is nuts. Come on SpringSource. I'm trying to get stuff sorted, and this is getting the way. Eclipse will validate against putting the xsd in as /WEB-INF/lib/validator-2.0.xsd (with corrections - see other bugs), but when it gets deployed with Spring 2.5, Xerces gives that lovely useless report with 3 possible causes.
