Many people have requested that there be some general information about the Spring Batch meta data tables for various reasons. One example might be when creating a strategy for archiving their information. The last version of the docs (not yet released) has a section on how to create indexes on the tables as well. I think this information is probably better relegated to an appendix, unless anyone feels strongly that it belongs in a particular chapter.
